How to choose an Ontario park for camping
Start with drive time
For a two-night weekend, most groups are happiest within about three hours of home. Parks like Darlington are under an hour from Toronto, while Sandbanks and Arrowhead reward a longer drive. See our guide to the best campsites near Toronto.
Match the park to your group
Families with young kids often prefer small, walkable campgrounds with a sandy beach, like Bass Lake or Mara. Hikers and paddlers may want bigger parks with trail networks and rivers, such as Awenda or Sauble Falls.
Compare individual campsites
Two sites in the same loop can feel completely different. Use the photos to check shade, privacy, tent pad size and how close you are to washrooms and the water before you book.
